2016 |
Pastor Joshua Reyes felt the unction from God to start a ministry that was welcoming to people of all lifestyles and background, non-judgmental, presence-based, and spirit-led. He felt the city needed a place where people could worship freely, pray intensely, and be radical for Jesus and the only agenda is that of the Holy Spirit; a place where people could grow and learn at their own pace, discover their spiritual gifts and serve the community with their talents and abilities. Together with his parents, Daniela, a few friends, and supernatural provision of $200 the church began.
SoulFire Revival Center started on October 2, 2016 at the conference room in La Quinta in Mercedes. After being in youth ministry for only 3 years, God blessed Pastor Josh with a new church and proved Himself faithful by sending supernatural provision, people for leadership, believers to back up the vision, instruments and sound equipment. As the vision for the ministry grew, so did the church attendance. The half-filled conference room became a full-blown church and at times attendance went very much over the original capacity limit. Baptisms were held in the hotel pool, community events were organized in the parking lot, and outreach to Mexico all took place within the first 3 months of the church launch. |
2017 |
Many prayer and leadership discussions took place and the hand of God moved once again and favor completely overflowed from the owner of the plaza next to La Quinta. After only a year of meeting, it was time to move forward into a larger space to accommodate for growth. The papers were signed, the signs were made, and the construction was done. By the beginning of December 2017 it was time to move into the new SoulFire home and start upgrading. The worship team grew, the leadership team grew, and the congregation grew. With visitors and regular attendees from Mission to Brownsville, Kindle Kids and Ember Youth were birthed.

2021 |
At the beginning of 2020, the world completely shifted how church was run due to the Covid-19 pandemic. Many churches closed their doors temporarily and switched to social media services, some moved to outdoor events, and unfortunately some ministries permanently closed their doors. SoulFire Revival Center upgraded live stream equipment and focused on digital outreach for a period of 2 months before re-opening the building and continuing in-person services. New visitors became consistent members and then became leaders and eventually God birthed a vision for even further expansion. A series of divine events that started decades before led to SFRC being given 1.5 acres of land free of charge less than a mile away from the current location.

2023 |
As the church continued to grow in number, an additional service was added to accommodate the influx of people without compromising the open worship space in front of the stage. Services are now available on Sundays at 10AM and 1:30PM with a lunch break in the middle for leaders and volunteers to rest, recuperate, and eat while fellowshipping.
