Baptism is the outward expression of what has taken place spiritually in a person's life as they die to their old self and are reborn in Christ! When you are baptized, you are metaphorically preaching the gospel. As you stand in the water waiting to be baptized, you symbolize Jesus dying on the cross. As you are lowered into the water, you symbolize Jesus buried in the tomb. As you are raised from the water, you symbolize Jesus rising from the dead.
People who want to follow God should do what God wants them to do!Simple enough.Jesus was baptized. He asked his disciples to be baptized. He asked his disciples to baptize others who believed in Him.When we love him we want to follow him and do what he commands us to do.He commands that everyone who chooses to follow him and to call themselves “Christian” should be baptized.
"Therefore, go and make disciples of all the nations, baptizing them in the name of the Father and the Son and the Holy Spirit. Teach these new disciples to obey all the commands I have given you. And be sure of this: I am with you always, even to the end of the age." Matthew 28:19-20
Can you remember a time when you attended a marriage ceremony or saw one on television? A wedding ceremony is simply a public proclamation of a man and woman's love for each other. This outward expression symbolizes how they feel about each other on the inside. The ceremony itself is not necessary to be legally married, but it is a way of showing their friends and family just how much they love each other. In the same way, getting baptized is not needed for salvation, but is an outward sign of the inward commitment you have made to follow Jesus. Baptism is an act of obedience and is a symbol of what God has already done in your heart.
Getting baptized does not wash away your sins, only Jesus can do that. Taking the plunge is just publicly saying that Jesus already saved you and He is your Lord and Savior! You do not need to be a Bible scholar, regular church attender, sinless, or even a good person to be baptized! You are ready for baptism once you accept Jesus into your heart and commit your life to Him. Just be ready for God to transform your heart! It's not complicated!
If you are ready to take the next step in your faith and get baptized we would be honored to help you! Talk to one of our pastors after service or let us know through the contact form on our Contact page! Someone will get back to you and we will be happy to talk to you about what you're preparing to do and arrange a baptism ceremony for you! You will just need a change of clothes, a towel, and a smile!
fellowship
Fellowship among believers encourages relationships, generates trust, and overall benefits the church as a community. The New Testament church was so much more than a Sunday morning service and a conference once a year. In the book of Acts we see believers meeting daily, eating and talking with one another daily, and through that fellowship God added to their numbers and the church began to grow. Fellowship is not just for church growth, but for personal growth! Coming together with like-minded individuals can give a person a greater sense of belonging and purpose. Here at SoulFire Revival Center we want everyone to feel like family! Fellowship will also help you stay connected with others, form new friendships, and even get to know your leaders on a more intimate level!
If you take a stick out of the fire, it's more likely to burn out before the rest of the fire. Why is that? One stick burning by itself can only burn so long, but in a pile the fire lasts much longer and the fire burns much brighter. In the same way, trying to live a Christian life on your own apart from other believers is possible, but can be difficult at times. When you reconnect with an entire body of believers on fire for God it's much easier to be encouraged and keep your faith going and growing! At the end of the day, the truth is that we are so much better together, not just because we see the effects, but because even Jesus did it with His disciples. When we can work together, talk together, and do life together, hard times seem easier and great times feel so much more awesome! Come and join us! We would love to meet you!
"And they steadfastly persevered, devoting themselves constantly to the instruction and fellowship of the apostles, to the breaking of bread [including the Lord's Supper] and prayers." Acts 2:42 AMP

"How wonderful and pleasant it iswhen brothers live together in harmony! For harmony is as precious as the anointing oilthat was poured over Aaron’s head, that ran down his beardand onto the border of his robe. Harmony is as refreshing as the dew from Mount Hermonthat falls on the mountains of Zion. And there the Lord has pronounced his blessing, even life everlasting." Psalm 133:1-3 NLT
