There is only one way to God, through Jesus, but there are many ways to connect with Him. Just like there are multiple gifts, talents, interests, preferences, passions, and ministry opportunities in the Body of Christ, there are also multiple ways people feel most connected with God. We are not all created to be the same and God does not speak to everyone exactly the same way. Who God created you to be as an individual not only aligns with your calling and purpose in life, but also with how you connect with God the most in your personal life. The following are the 12 main biblical ways people may relate to.
1. Adoration - Adoration is ministering to God’s heart through private or corporate praise and worship. 2. Compassion - Compassion is when you are serving the least of these because when you serve others you are doing it unto Jesus. 3. Conversation - Conversation with God is wanting Him to be involved in every aspect of your life by desiring to know what is on His heart and His mind. 4. Creation - Creation is feeling His presence, hearing His voice, or being moved to worship by being in His creation. 5. Expression - Expression is feeling closest to God when you are creating through writing, painting, playing an instrument, filming, dancing, etc. 6. Fasting - Fasting resets our minds, hearts, and appetites on the things of the Lord by denying the flesh and intentionally desiring the Spirit. 7. Learning - Learning is when God teaches you new revelation you didn’t know before through His Word and Christian education. 8. Meditation - Meditation is when you intentionally focus on His Word, digest it, and allow it to become alive in you. 9. Movement - Movement with God can be running, walking, dancing, working with your hands, or changing positions during worship. 10. Reformation - Reformation comes through prayer and petition for God’s restorative justice to be released in the earth as it is in heaven. 11. Remembrance - Remembering can look like intentionally looking back in history at the moves of God and partnering with them now. 12. Solitude - Solitude is experiencing intimacy with God by getting alone Him away from the distractions and noise of life.
